To help inner city youth to obtain a New Image
through positive and motivating learning experiences and building
character through the promotion of education and fun.
New Image Youth Center seeks to prevent the children from
continuing the cycle of poverty that they are expected to follow by the
community through education, mentoring and positive activities.
President, Shanta Barton
Shanta is the Founder/Director of New Image Youth Center in Orlando, FL. New Image Youth Centers mission is to help inner city youth obtain a New Image through positive and motivating learning experiences, character building, and the promotion of education and fun.
At the age of 21, Shanta Stubbs founded the New Image Youth Center with only $1,500.00 and 8 children. Shanta now helps mentor over 50 children a day in the Parramore Community. I teach the children to surround themselves with positive people, because then positive things will happen, she said. I teach the children that they become who they are surrounded by, and it's important to be around people who believe in your dream, and think as you do, that way it's easier to stay focused, and to stay out of trouble.
Shanta has been the null of many awards including the Bank of America Local hero award in 2007, the 2008 Magic Maker Award given by the NBAs Orlando Magic, and her most humble award, winning the national title Ms Corporate America 2009, from the Ms Corporate America Pageant. Shanta Barton-Stubbs is the first African American women to win this title. With this title Shanta was able to volunteer at many organizations such as B.A.S.E Camp, Buddies of Orlando, Boys and Girls of America, Woman shelters, and many other places.
Shanta has had the privilege of being featured in many local magazines, radio shows and television talk shows. Shantas goal is to be a role model for at-risk youth and to show at-risk youth that they can defy the odds under any circumstances.

My role at NIYC began as secretary, but in a short time grew with my shared passion with Shanta. I currently act as the V.P. and Event Coordinator, my duties include researching fundraising ideas and sources, locating educational and recreational field trips, making business and community contacts, and coordinating special events. I also teach student seminars on self-esteem, pregnancy prevention, and drug abuse prevention.
In an effort to keep the Center thriving I offer my services in writing grants, reports, letters, and proof-reading. These services are available at a minimal fee, feel free to contact me for assistance. Educating and nurturing children is my greatest passion. I wish I could devote every hour to the Center the way Shanta does, but we work together to do all we can to benefit the children of Parramore and the Parramore community.
